Concrete Slab JackingSlab Jacking is the viable alternative to replacing a concrete slab, driveway or pool deck. The process actually "floats" the slab back into place with minimal cosmetic repair necessary. The grout mixture used in slab jacking is usually a combination of cement, sand, fly-ash, and various other additives. The grout offers a strong base beneath the existing slab that insures an excellent finished product. Why Would I Need Slab Jacking? All concrete slabs have a tendency to evidence hairline cracks due to the drying and curing process of concrete. Normal settlement will take place in the first 2 to 2.5 years that the residential or commercial structure is in natural soils. After that, settlement is generally due to geological settlement in the deeper layers. Often, the slab on one side of the crack will be lower than on the other side or it can shift horizontally. When that happens, the slab will become a candidate for a process known in the industry as "slab jacking".
