10 Underpins were installed on the south side of the home, 26 grout injection points drilled around perimeter of home including pool area. Vehicles & trailers staged in front of the residence in Ocala. Reflective cones are placed to ensure safety. Sunshine State One Call has located and “flagged” underground utilities around the property. Underpin holes are dug by hand and dirt is moved and placed on plywood to reduce property intrusion. The foundation is then cut and faced to ensure proper seating of the underpin bracket. Our equipment only travels on plywood. This greatly reduces the wear on the home owners yard and leaves the project much cleaner at the end of the day. Our custom built drill rig is capable of both angled and vertical drilling perpendicular to the house as shown here and parallel to the home as well. The retractable outriggers & tracks allow us to enter areas as small as 34” wide which allows us to drill in almost any situation or angle regardless of obstacles or complex terrain. Pictured to the left is our “high torque” auger piering system lead section about to enter the ground. The drive head is capable of 4000 foot lbs of torque at 30 rpms. The bottom cutter plate is specifically designed to cut through limestone to allow for a secure seating within the limestone bed. An angle finder is always used both in underpin installation and grout injection drilling. Our drill rig is capable of proper angled installation up to 30 degrees. This shows the underpin bracket seated properly against the foundation with top plate bolted ready for jacking. Our jacking tool has been custom fabricated to slide onto our bracket and provide up to 25 tons of lifting force (50 kip). A series of jacking tools are necessary to provide constant lift along the side of a home. The bracket is then secured by wrench tightening the bolts on top. Silicone is heavily applied to the exposed bolts as a final rust preventative before back filling the hole and placing landscaping accordingly. Pictured here is a grout injection point being installed at a 15 degree angle by way of our hydro-wash injection system. Hydro-washing is extremely fast & effective. This injection point was installed to 84 feet in 30 minutes with virtually no clean up necessary. During the hydro-wash injection process water is circulated into the mud pan and the clean water is reused. This greatly reduces the amount of fluid being injected into the ground and allows us to visually see the conditions we are drilling through. Grout injection points were installed 24” from the walkway in the front of the house. This picture shows the difference between vertical and angled points ready for grout. We use Rinker Materials for all compaction grout pumped through Putzmeister TK30 grout pumps. A catch box is used under the hopper to catch any excess material. Excess grout and post grouting clean up is dumped into our dump trailer and hauled away from the job at the end of the day. Our custom built heavy duty gauges accurately display line pressure readings up to 1000 psi. Pictured here is our ground extraction tool holding the injection pipe while being pumped under pressure. Our extraction tools have been custom built to pull pipe with up to 75 kip of upward force. We understand that grouting can be very messy work and we take every precaution available to keep our jobs neat and clean. Grout curtains are set against the home or building to protect from overspray and plastic is laid to protect the grass or any landscaping. We monitor ground movement with a Topcon laser system communicating with multiple receivers and structural movement with a scope dialed into radicals on the home. Upon completion, fresh sod & mulch is installed in heavier traveled areas of the yard at our cost to leave a clean, neat appearance. Secure Foundation Systems will never charge the home owner or Insurance company for any sod or mulch installed around the project. We believe that a quality contractor should leave the property looking as good or better than the way it was found. As a final process we pressure clean all traveled driveways, pool patios walk ways and the road in front of the home.
